For multiple leadership teams that want to strengthen their competencies together and initiate concrete initiatives.
Competence Boost 1 is a research-based development program designed for executive leadership teams in the public and private sectors. The program provides a shared language and a common understanding of digital maturity and digital transformation, based on the DI2X frameworks. Through a combination of theory, practice-based examples, reflection, and experience sharing, the leadership team strengthens its ability to lead the work on digital maturity and transformation within their organization.
The program is offered either as a closed course for a single leadership team or as a joint course for multiple leadership teams, potentially across several organizations.
Competence Boost 1 is aimed at executive leadership teams within a single organization or across multiple organizations—such as industry associations, trade unions, or networks—seeking to enhance their ability to lead their organizations through digital transformation.
The program is particularly relevant for leaders with strategic responsibility for development and innovation, who want a shared language and strengthened understanding of digital maturity, and who aim to implement concrete initiatives to improve their organization’s digital capacity and execution power.

Competence Boost 1 is conducted as a structured and research-based blended learning program across four modules. The modules are based on the DI2X frameworks and cover four main themes: Strategy, Technology, Organization, and Leadership.
The program provides participants with insight into the DI2X frameworks for digital maturity and organizational capabilities, along with practical tools and methods for applying them in their own organization. Through reflection, dialogue, and casework, the content is linked to the leadership team’s everyday work, strategic priorities, and real-world challenges. The program can be tailored with specific cases, industry perspectives, and guest speakers.
Videos and podcasts featured in the program are developed in collaboration with DI2X experts and leading professionals and representatives from academia, public, and private sectors in Norway and the Nordic region.
Participants get access to the DI2X Resource Center, which includes academic content, the DI2X Chatbot, and the three books 'Digital Maturity', 'Digital Transformation', and 'Mind the Gap' by Pernille Kræmmergaard.
No prior knowledge of the DI2X frameworks is required.
Each module combines assessments, analyses, and both digital and in-person learning and development activities, and consists of three phases:
Individual digital work with theory, podcasts, videos, and reflection exercises
Local group work based on a concrete challenge
A joint day—either physical or digital—with expert presentations, examples, and structured dialogue, led by experienced facilitators
Local work within the leadership team, reflecting on and addressing the module’s topic. Participants define their level of ambition and potential strategic initiatives
Upon completion, the executive leadership team will share a common understanding of digital transformation and gain increased insight into how their organization can develop its digital maturity. Participants will have strengthened both individual and collective competencies, acquired a shared vocabulary to guide further work, and learned how technology, organization, strategy, and leadership are connected in practice.
Through reflection, professional input, and concrete analyses, the leadership team will be able to identify its own ambitions and further develop strategic focus areas—tailored to its specific context and goals.
The program is recommended to be carried out across four modules, each with a duration of approximately three months. The structure can be adapted to the needs of each organization in terms of scope, pace, and mode of delivery. Sessions can be held both digitally and in person, and are designed to encourage active participation, reflection, and the sharing of experiences.
If you take the program with DI2X Norway, you will meet Eirin Folde, Managing Director of DI2X Norway, with extensive experience in leadership and competence development based on the DI2X frameworks.
If you take the program with DI2X Denmark, you will meet Pernille Kræmmergaard, Ph.D., the researcher behind the DI2X frameworks, and Ania Reinwald, Ph.D., who has contributed to the development of the frameworks and has extensive experience teaching them.
The program concludes with each leadership team delivering a final summary, concretizing their own goals for further work—both short- and long-term. After this, all participants are invited to a one-hour digital closing session with experience sharing and reflection. A DI2X diploma is issued as documentation of successful completion of Competence Boost 1.

After completing the program, participants will be able to:
This module works with the importance of the digital and technological development for the organization's future basis of existence, its relationships with customers / citizens and partners. Participants are introduced to the development and the strategic implications as well as the opportunities to lead the development rather than be controlled by it. It is discussed both in the individual management team and across the teams how the development should be reflected strategically in their own organization.
This module works on how the organization's current and future possibilities depend on the choices made, or the once being made, about technologies, IT platforms, and data management. The participants get among other things an understanding of IT architecture and infrastructure and is thus equipped to be able to assess the connection between strategic ambitions and decisions about technology, IT, and data. Further, the specific contexts in one's own organization are discussed in the management teams and across.
This module works with the importance of organizing the work, the relationship with and frames for the employees, so that they are constantly harmonized with the digital visions and ambitions, and the expectations from and to the employees. Participants gain insight into how strategic ambitions and decisions about technology, IT, and data require change for the organization and employees, including, among other things, the need for developing a digital mindset at different levels, innovative practice, and agile mindset and methods.
This module works with the competencies that the managers themselves, in addition to general management competencies, must master in an increasingly digital and technological environment with the associated diversity of realities and uncertainty. Participants are introduced to, and discuss, what it takes of themselves and their leadership to lead the organization's digital transformation. Further, the participants will share experiences and discuss approaches to leading in relation to the many new bottom lines and making the transformation meaningful for the employees and other stakeholders.
1) Preparation: Common language and understanding
2) Gathering: Current starting point
3) Follow-up: Further efforts
The division into these steps is intended to help the participants to continuously link the conceptual content to the work in their own organization and practice.
The participants have access to a learning platform with videos, podcasts, literature, exercises, etc. Here it is also possible to follow their own progression and continuously access the material from the gatherings.
Before and during the program, the DI2X tools are used mapping the participants own organization's digital maturity and capabilities for digital transformation. The individual test-results are anonymous, but the aggregated anonymized results will be included and discussed during the program.

The price depends on the number of participants and the desired level of customization.
