The Role of HR in Digital Transformation

For HR leaders and strategic HR professionals who want to take a clearer role in the organization’s digital transformation and strengthen HR’s contribution to the development of digital maturity, organization, leadership, and competencies. The course lasts two days and combines the DI2X frameworks with practical application within participants’ own organizations.

After the course, you will have a solid understanding of how digital maturity and transformation capability can be developed through targeted work with leadership, competencies, and culture. You will be able to assess how HR can take clearer ownership of transformation efforts and strengthen the organization’s digital transformation.

The course is delivered by DI2X as an open course or as a closed course for an HR leadership group within specific organizations.

About the Course

The course is based on DI2X’s research-based frameworks for Digital Maturity and Organizational Capabilities. It focuses on how HR can contribute when digitalization, artificial intelligence, and new demands for transformation affect competence needs, leadership, culture, and organizational design. The aim is to provide HR with a stronger foundation for understanding, prioritizing, and contributing strategically to the organization’s continued development.

Through DI2X’s research-based frameworks, participants work with questions that many HR environments are currently facing:

  • How do technology and artificial intelligence affect requirements for leadership, competencies, and organizational design?
  • Which organizational capabilities must the organization develop to succeed in digital transformation?
  • How can HR contribute with clearer priorities, stronger collaboration, and greater impact?
  • The course provides participants with a professional and practical foundation for understanding their organization’s digital maturity, assessing HR’s strategic role, and identifying where HR can contribute most effectively in the next phase of development.

    • Leaders and advisors within organizational development, competence development, and learning who have a clear role in the organization’s strategic development
  • The course is designed for HR professionals with strategic responsibility or with a central role in developing the organization’s digital maturity and transformation capability. It is not an operational-level course.
  • It may be beneficial for HR to participate together with representatives from digitalization, technology, or strategy functions in order to strengthen cross-functional collaboration and anchoring in the organization’s continued development efforts.

Content and Learning Approach

  • The course is conducted over two days from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM and combines expert presentations with dialogue, reflection, and structured working sessions.
  • Participants work systematically with issues related to their own organization and use the DI2X frameworks as a basis for assessment, prioritization, and strategic reflection.
  • The course is based on the DI2X frameworks for Digital Maturity and Organizational Capabilities, with particular attention to HR’s role in developing the organization’s digital maturity and transformation capability.
  • Throughout the course, participants will work on:
    • Assessing their organization’s digital maturity and transformation pressure
    • Reflecting on the role HR should take in light of the organization’s level of ambition and development needs
    • Identifying and prioritizing which organizational capabilities are particularly important to develop from an HR perspective
    • Discussing how HR can contribute to the development of competencies, structure, collaboration, culture, and leadership capacity
    • Exploring how DI2X Tools can be used to support assessment, prioritization, and development processes
  • The course also includes an introduction to relevant DI2X Praxis methods and learning materials, as well as reflection on how these can be used strategically in HR’s work with organizational development, competence development, and the development of transformation capability.

Practical completion

Part 1: The cource

2 days

At the two-day course you will learn about and discuss the two frameworks, try the tests yourself, and learn how to analyze and use test-results. Furthermore, the course will focus on competency development and organizational learning, linking the theoretical knowledge and the test results to this objective.

The first day of the course focuses on the framework: Digital Maturity and Organisational Capabilities. The second day of the course focuses on DI2X tools and different applications. You will work on an analysis of test results and case. Furthermore you will learn how to use the Tools as well as the materials in the Resource Center in competence development and learning processes in your own organization.

After the two course days, you will answer a multiple-choice test consisting of 30 questions. The test takes about 15 minutes to complete.

Case work

4 weeks

The next four weeks you will work on a case in your own organization, or at a co-operation partner. You will collect data to enlighten your planning of competence development or another initiative. This could be data from our Tools, strategies from the organization, interviews with key individuals, dialog with managers etc. After the data collection you will have a one-hour virtual supervision with a DI2X expert.

 

Part 3: Virtual Workshop

½ day

At the half-day workshop, you will present your analysis of the data you have collected as well as the goals of the next part of our case work. Based on feedback, inspiration and dialogue you will begin outlining the relevant competence development or other change efforts.

Part 4: Case Work

3 months

You initiate and facilitate a competence development or other change efforts in your own organization, where you use the frameworks, the DI2X tools, and test results etc. During this 3-months period you can participate in 2 virtual sparring sessions with a DI2X expert and other participants in the Certification program.

Part 5: Final Workshop

½ day

At the ½-day workshop you and the other participants presents your competence development or other change efforts and demonstrate what you have learned. The workshop allows for knowledge sharing and ends with a certification.

After completing the Certification program, you will receive a certificate stating that you have completed the program and when.
